| The Conductor
My story is simple. Arbor Atlanta is a place for me to express myself and that which I learn about trees. I call myself the Conductor because I like trains, music, and electricity. Conducting is intricate in each of these realms. Trees have a calming affect on me. To understand the science behind them or our relationship with them can be complex. If you doubt that than attend meetings that attempt to protect them or read about photosynthesis in a biology book. Even to write about or to draw a tree can become challenging. Yet somehow, when I visualize them, or think about them I become calm. When I was sick and in the hospital with Leukemia I tapped into a trees core spirit for strength. Today I like to work around trees because they remind me that life is simple not complex. When I imagine a tree time slows down. I become centered and more connected by visualizing the way a tree reaches into the earth to hold itself erect. To understand a tree's core spirit can have a calming effect on the human mind. Nature can have this impact on humans. I have friends who find similar solace in the weather, stars, mountains, water, and even koalas. If something is upsetting you, life feels out of control, or you need strength grab a piece of nature, a tree, the sky, water, or even a koala and visualize, not the complexities but instead the innate simplicity. If you wish to contact me, email nwn@arboratlanta.com. I live in Decatur, Georgia and grew up in La Honda, California. |
